Cost proposals need to be questioned in depth, not simply approved as presented
Manage budget year ‘round
Budgets should address needs in this environment. Budgets are not a bar at which to target spending.
Prioritize ‘needs’ vs. 'wants'
Do not allow ‘talking points’ to dictate spending. The need must be defined and real before monies are spent.
Ask the right questions
Accepting proposals without posing in-depth questioning does not best serve the taxpayer. Challenge the status quo at times.
